If you are on the Internet, you need to detect fake news and unsafe websites to protect yourself from phishing. We give you a few tips that you should implement in your environment.
HTTPS Websites
An inexhaustible variety of information is available on the Internet. However, not all websites are safe. A reputable and, most importantly, secure site uses HTTPS, a secure communication protocol. Your browser shows a lock in the address bar, if the website is using HTTPS.
Emails
Every day, countless emails are sent to your mailboxes. Be vigilant, especially when an action is required, such as clicking links, downloading files, installing apps, changing settings or opening Word documents.
A good password manager is mandatory.
If you want to use the Internet, you can’t get around using passwords. You need these for social media, banking, tax office and many other accounts. For each of those, a secure password (letters, numbers, special characters combination) must be used.
A password manager helps because:
- it will suggest you secure passwords.
- you only need to remember a single master password.
- all other passwords are stored securely in the digital vault.
- you can access your passwords at any time and easily copy them (no keyboard input required).
Schindler IT-Solutions GmbH has been focusing on data security for more than 25 years and also offers training and consulting for companies in this area. From data protection(firewall, virus protection,…) to compliance with the DSGVO, projects are also implemented outside Europe and training is carried out in companies.
Since 2020, Schindler IT-Solutions GmbH has also made its know-how available to the Cybersecurity Hotline 0800 888 133 (WKO).
“Our goal is to make people aware of the issue of data security and to teach them how to handle data securely. The more people agree to be careful with their data and protect it with a Next Generation firewall, for example, the harder it will be for cybercriminals to get their hands on data.”
