3,506,157 Unauthorized advertising e-mails and text messages
The UK’s data protection authority, the ICO, has launched an investigation into the company Monetise Media Limited after several individuals complained about promotional emails and text messages leading to a credit company.
During these investigations, the DPA found that the company, between July 28, 2020 and July 28, 2021, sent 3,506,157 promotional emails and promotional text messages, without consent from the data subjects. Although the data subjects had agreed to receive advertising messages regarding finances on another website, the British data protection authority considered these to be too vague and accordingly did not apply to Monetise Media Limited.
