39,167 Advertising calls despite objection in the TPS register
After a complaint that unsolicited insurance solicitation calls from UK Appliance Cover Limited were reported to the U.K. TPS Registry, the U.K.’s data protection authority, the ICO, launched an investigation into the company.
The investigation revealed that between June 1 and December 31, 2020, the company had made 39,167 solicitation calls to individuals who had entered in the TPS registry that they did not want to receive solicitation calls.
In addition, the recipient of the fine had not correctly disclosed his identity during the calls.
