465,235 emails and 40,524 SMS sent without consent
After more than 97 complaints that unsolicited promotional text messages and promotional emails for car loans from Finance Giant Ltd were reported to the UK’s data protection authority ICO launched investigations against the company.
The investigation found that between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30, 2020, the company sent 465,235 emails and 40,524 text messages to individuals without obtaining consent from the data subjects. Furthermore, there was no possibility to object to further advertising measures in the SMS.
