Data protection penalty against Vfb Stuttgart
The German Bundesliga club Vfb Stuttgart was sentenced by the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Baden-Württemberg to pay a fine of €300,000. The club had disclosed the personal data of thousands of members to third parties. The case aroused great media interest in Germany.
According to the press release of the data protection authority, VfB Stuttgart waives further legal remedies and will instead work for more data protection in the event of initiative. The State Data Protection Officer is satisfied with the completion of the procedure.
