E-mail advertising to 215,202 people despite objection
As a result of an advertising campaign in which the postal company sent e-mail advertisements to 215,202 people who had previously objected to further advertising, a fine was imposed by the UK’s data protection authority, the ICO.
The unlawful mailing resulted from a technical error on the part of Royal Mail Group Limited, which had self-reported the incident to the ICO.
