Morele.net runs an electronics online-shop. Due to insufficient technical and organizational measures, the data protection authority imposed a fine of € 644.000,-.
What happend?
In a hacker attack, data from a total of 2.2 million customers have been stolen by third parties due to the lax technical security measures.
The data concerned included first and last names, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and customer delivery addresses. Approximately 35,000 people lost the data from installment loan applications, which in addition contained personal identification numbers and information about educational background, the employer, their net income, the marital status and support payments.
