Online store Morele.net – 2.2 million customers affected
Morele.net operates a store in the field of consumer electronics. Due to insufficient technical and organizational measures, the data protection authority imposed a fine in the amount of € 644,000.00.
But what happened?
In a hacker attack, data from a total of 2.2 million customers was tapped by third parties due to lax technical security precautions. The data concerned included customers’ first and last names, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and delivery addresses.
Approximately 35,000 individuals lost data from installment loan applications that revealed personal identification numbers and information about educational background, employer, net income level, marital status, and existing child support obligations.
