Penalty against Ministry of the Interior
The state has issued an international arrest warrant. However, this arrest warrant was inaccurate, which is why the Bulgarian authorities arrested a Finnish citizen when crossing the border. Subsequently, photos as well as fingerprints of the innocent were taken.
Despite the intervention of the Finnish consulate, Togo did not provide any evidence of the crime. Nevertheless, the Bulgarian Ministry of the Interior transmitted the personal data to the African state. The data protection authority considered this to be illegal data processing and transfer and imposed a fine of approximately €5,000 on the Ministry of the Interior.
