Penalty against Sigma Live Ltd
The news portal Sigma Live was fined €5,000 in Cyprus after a private individual complained to the data protection authority.
In an article about a whistleblower, the media company had shown pictures of the person concerned, giving the impression that he was the whistleblower in question.
The authority examined this circumstance and convicted the company of violations of the General Data Protection Regulation, as the company had no legal basis to process the personal data.
