Unauthorized disclosure of car accident data
Several people who have been involved in accidents have complained about receiving unwanted contact from companies involved in claims handling after their accidents.
During the investigation, it turned out that a former employee of the Royal Automobile Club had saved the data of 272 traffic accidents on his mobile devices. He was the only one who had access to the personal data of the 21 people concerned. He has pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of data.
In addition to a fine, he had to pay court costs of £937 and pay a victim surcharge of £170.
