Fine against individual in Austria
An individual was fined by the austrian data protection authority because illegal video surveillance.
The hungarian citizen has installed two dashcams on his vehicle. The police mentioned the cameras and informed the data protection authority. In the investigation process the defendant argumented that he needs this cameras in case of a car accident, to prove his innocence.
The data protection authority did not follow this argumention and fined the individual for illegal video surveillance. The total fine was € 330,-
The authority said that the personal circumstances were decisive for this low penalty. The individual has only a net income of € 900,- per month and has to take care fof his disabled, adult child.
